Coffee’s Popularity & Potential Problems
Fact: coffee is the most popular drink in the world, with more than 400 billion cups consumed each year. According to a survey on Reuters, commissioned by the National Coffee Association, “64 percent of Americans drink a cup of coffee every day.” Needless to say, coffee is very much a part of our morning routine. And if it’s not coffee, it’s another source of caffeine, such as English Breakfast tea, chai, or matcha.
The problem with caffeine, however, is that it can lead to unwanted side effects. Too much of anything is never a good thing, even when it comes to coffee and marijuana. With caffeine, in particular, overindulgence can cause
- Increased heart rate/Breathing rate
Not to mention, some find coffee’s natural flavor offputting (hence why these crazy Starbucks drinks are so popular). Who really needs a Unicorn Frappucino at 8 in the morning?!
