Police are investigating a burglary at a medical marijuana dispensary in Newark.
The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday at Fresh Cannabis on Ogletown Road, which grows marijuana and sells it to patients with a medical marijuana card. It also has a retail shop that sells a variety of bongs, pipes, vaporizers and other consumption devices, as well as marijuana-themed merchandise like T-shirts and hats.
Officers were summoned to the property by a burglary alarm and found shattered glass, indicating someone had broken in, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department. Police searched the property but found no one inside.
Management reported that unspecified merchandise was missing. Detectives are still investigating the case.
Police have not yet released surveillance footage, but Fresh Delaware is known to have an advanced surveillance camera system that “provides excellent quality interior and exterior views of the business,” Rubin said in January after a previous burglary there.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Taras Gerasimov at 302-366-7100, ext. 3474, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
